In order to enjoy the maximum beauty of the island and its beaches, some recommend renting a car. You have the freedom to come and go as you wish and not depend on a taxi. You can see places "off the beaten path" and do it your way. Most apartments or hotels have secure parking.
Driving on Margarita Island can be a challenge. It starts when trying to reserve a rental car and continues throughout the rental process for those who are Spanish challenged.

We speak English, offer the customer service you are accustomed to, our
documents are in both English and Spanish and we have an on-line booking
service.
When you reserve a vehicle from Gringo-Rent-A-Car be assured that when you arrive on Margarita Island you will be met at the airport and your new or late model vehicle will be gassed up and ready to go. Or, if you prefer we can deliver your car to where you happen to be staying. You will receive the type of customer service that you are accustomed to. You will be provided a map of the island as well as driving tips. While the driving here is aggressive, you should have no problems driving here. Should you have an island compatible cell phone or rent a cell while here, you will have access to a bilingual customer service representative. This is an invaluable service should you be stopped for any reason by the authorities or need assistance with your vehicle. We will even pay for one half the cost of a cell phone rental should you use our authorized provider on the island.
ABOUT OUR VEHICLES
We offer brand new or late model Nissan Sentras and Honda Civics. They all
are 5 passenger 4 door sedans with ample trunk space and have automatic
transmission, security alarm and AM/FM CD player. Some have leather
interior, power windows and door locks as well as a 6 disc CD changer and
sun roof. ALL VEHICLES ARE NON SMOKING VEHICLES UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
All vehicles are dealer maintained and have liability insurance. You will
not get a junker like at some places. We also offer a CDW (Collision Damage
Waiver). This option limits the renters and/or any authorized drivers
financial loss to the selected deductible if the car is wrecked while under
the rental contract and being lawfully operated pursuant to contractual
terms.
Our stated prices are the prices you pay. Prices per 24 hour period are as
follows, Nissans are $40.00 and Hondas are $45.00 and $50.00. All the
Nissans are smoke free cars as are all Hondas, except as noted. There are
100 kilometers daily included free and then a charge of 15 cents per
additional kilometer. You can select unlimited kilometers as an option when
you book if you think you are going to be doing a lot of driving.
